The Proof Edition American Silver Eagle Dollars are made of one full ounce of Pure Silver. The first and only .999 Fine Silver coin ever produced in the United States! The obverse design was originally used on the Liberty Walking half dollar, 1916-1947. The coin itself is sealed in a hard plastic capsule then seated inside a velvet hinged case complete with the U.S. Treasury Seal. This stunning velvet box is then protected by an outer box with silver embossing. Each attractively packaged coin comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity from the United States Mint.
Proof Editions: The term "Proof" refers to a method of manufacture which produces a superior quality coin. Proofs are struck on specially prepared planchets using highly polished dies. They are struck multiple times at low speed and are made expressly for collectors in Proof Sets. Modern Proof coins are easily identified by their mirror-like finish and frosted features. Uncirculated Silver Eagles are also available.
